Job Description
Job Title: HGV 1 Shunter
Location: Magor
Salary: £16,94ph
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
We are looking for an experienced HGV 1 Shunter to join our dynamic team. As an HGV 1 Shunter, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving HGV vehicles within a designated yard, loading and unloading trailers, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods throughout the operation. This role requires attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate HGV 1 vehicles to move trailers within the yard and loading/unloading bays.
- Ensure all vehicles are safely parked and manoeuvred to ensure efficient use of yard space.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods, ensuring that products are securely loaded.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is maintained to a high standard.
- Follow health and safety regulations and ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Maintain clear communication with the warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor the condition of trailers, reporting any issues such as damages or mechanical faults to the fleet manager.
- Perform any other duties as required by the management.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid HGV 1 Licence (Class 1) with CPC qualification.
- Proven experience in shunting or working in a similar yard-based role.
- Good knowledge of health and safety practices within a transport environment.
- Ability to manoeuvre vehicles safely within tight spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
