Position: HGV Class 1 Shunter
Location: Preston
Job Type: Temp to Perm
Salary: £196.32 per shift
Shifts: 4 on 4 off – Nights only
Good to Know:
Yard shunting work only
No store deliveries or drops
No handball
Curtain-sider work
Night shifts starting between 15:00 – 22:00
Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter looking for a stable night role? We are currently recruiting reliable and professional drivers to join our team in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers who prefer yard-based work with consistent shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
Shunting trailers safely and efficiently within the yard
Moving units between loading bays and designated areas
Ensuring trailers are correctly positioned for loading and unloading
Carrying out vehicle and trailer safety checks
Completing all required paperwork accurately
Maintaining clear communication with the transport and yard team
Following all health & safety, site, and company procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
Valid CPC qualification
Previous HGV Class 1 or shunting experience (1 year+ preferred)
Strong awareness of yard safety and procedures
Good communication skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Comfortable working night shifts on a 4 on 4 off pattern
Strong commitment to safety and professionalism
